Prevalence
  • Within the US, the majority of chemical and detergent suicide cases reported from 1999-2010 took place within automobiles.
    • The data was defined as suicide or attempted suicide using mixed chemicals within an automobile.
  • Within the same span of time a documented 11 chemical suicide incidents were reported within seven (7) states.
    • Within those cases, five (5) law enforcement officers sustained injuries.
  • The majority of suicide victims were white males, less than 30 years old, who left a warning note and were found in cars. [1 - 5]
