Police officers began carrying Narcan in October 2010.  They administered it 211 times and reversed the opiate overdose 211 times.  In 2007, the Massachusetts Department of Public Health established a program giving IN Narcan access to families of opiate abusers; By 2009, both the police and fire departments were participating.
