Blood Flow Through the Heart
  • Unoxygenated blood flows from the inferior and superior vena cava into the right atrium; through the tricuspid valve, into the right ventricle and continues through the pulmonic valve and then to the pulmonary arteries and to the lungs;
  • Blood travels via the pulmonary veins into the left atrium; through the mitral valve, into the left ventricle, through the aortic valve, and through the aorta, to the body. [25, 27]
