Coronary Artery Blockage

Atherosclerotic plaque can build up in any or all of these coronary arteries. Blockage in any one of these main arteries or their branches results in myocardial cell death.  This is the definition of myocardial infarction, or acute coronary syndrome,  colloquially known as a "heart attack".  Depending on the vessels that are blocked, different parts of the heart muscle will be affected and there will be different clinical and ECG findings.
