Thrombolysis is an intravenous means for the treatment of acute MI. Thrombolysis is considered a “clot busting” medication that will dissolve the clot and restore normal blood flow. As a result of the limited abilities of some tertiary hospitals in some areas, thrombolysis remains an important reperfusion strategy for the acute MI. The benefit from thrombolytic therapy declines rapidly as the time from the last known well time increases. The earlier the reperfusion therapy is given, the better the outcomes. [17-18] |
