Management of Hemorrhagic Shock for pre-hospital providers

Scene Assessment

Trauma assessment usually begins with a scene assessment, which should help the provider identify the following crucial points:

  • Safety hazards to the EMS providers on scene;
  • The number of patients who are present on scene needing treatment, and
  • An immediate need for more resources.

Once the scene assessment is complete and the patients are located, the trauma assessment begins. [1]
