Common symptoms of stroke, such as those listed below, can occur in isolation, but often occur as a combination of findings.
- Slurred speech
- Sudden onset of weakness or loss of strength in face, arm or leg (especially on one side of body)
- Acute loss of sensation
- Loss of visual fields
- Double vision or abnormal eye movement
- Difficulty speaking, nonsensical speech or comprehending
- Difficulty walking, dizziness or loss of coordination
- Vertigo
- Decreased level of consciousness
- Neglect (ignoring one side of the body)
- Nausea and vomiting
- Difficulty swallowing [59]
