Public education campaigns are valuable for increasing awareness of stroke symptoms and facilitating use of the 9-1-1 system, which improves the speed-of-care delivery. The size of this task is often underestimated. The message needs to be tailored to individual audiences; it should not be assumed that a broad general message would suffice. Simply assuming that delivering generic stroke education will positively affect change is a recipe for failure.

- The region’s routing protocols and the stroke capabilities local hospitals
- Performance metrics from EMS data for educational purposes
