Guidelines for on scene management
- Manage circulation, airway and breathing. Administer oxygen if needed.
- Perform a prehospital stroke assessment utilizing one of the accepted screening tools (may be determined by EMS medical oversight or state/regional policy).
- Determine and record the exact time the symptoms occurred or when the patient was last seen normal (Last known well time)
- Bring a witness or family member to the hospital. Record name and phone number of any witness.
- Collect or record all medications taken by the patient. [69]
