American Heart Association has guidelines for the early treatment of ischemic stroke regarding supplemental oxygen
Supplemental oxygen should be administered to maintain a SpO2 greater than 94%
Oxygen can be administered via nasal cannula or non-rebreather
Without the use of a pulse oximeter this may be difficult to determine
- Monitor respiratory rate
- Look at skin color
- Look at capillary refill
