- Rapid transportation to the closest appropriate stroke-ready facility.
- Utilize an assessment tool such as the Cincinnati Prehospital Stroke Scale, LAPSS or LAMS.
- Maintain circulation, airway, and breathing (CAB).
- Obtain concise history of the events, including onset of symptoms. Utilize a family member or witness.
- Assess blood pleasure, oxygen saturation and glucose if time and skills permit.
- Respond rapidly.
- Triage, assess, stabilize, and treat the patient appropriately.
- Transport with the highest priority.
- Notify the receiving hospital en route.
- Present the patient to the ED and share concise information.
- Obtain feedback about the outcome.
