Without ICS, incident responses can result in:
- Unclear chains of command and supervision which result in lack of accountability
- Conflicting terminology due to poor communication, and inefficient use (or knowledge) of available communications systems
- Lack of an orderly planning process
- No predesigned management structure which would enabled commanders to delegate responsibilities as needed and manage workloads more efficiently and effectively
- Lack of the ability to manage interagency requirements both into the management structure and planning process in an effective manner
Using ICS prevents the above issues in incident responses.
