Incident Command System

<< BackNext >>

Without ICS, incident responses can result in:

  • Unclear chains of command and supervision which result in lack of accountability
  • Conflicting terminology due to poor communication, and inefficient use (or knowledge) of available communications systems
  • Lack of an orderly planning process
  • No predesigned management structure which would enabled commanders to delegate responsibilities as needed and manage workloads more efficiently and effectively
  • Lack of the ability to manage interagency requirements both into the management structure and planning process in an effective manner

Using ICS prevents the above issues in incident responses.
