Single Incident Commander vs. Unified Command
  • Single IC
When an incident occurs in one single jurisdiction and there is no jurisdictional overlap, a single IC should be designated with overall incident management responsibility.

  • Unified Command is used when the incident involves a multi-jurisdictional response. The jurisdictional or organizational authorities designate these individuals. They must jointly determine objectives, strategies, plans, resource allocations and priorities need for the incident.  [4, 5]
