Incident Command System

The staging area is a temporary location where resources are located waiting to be assigned.  close to the incident where resources are stored and await assignment. This area is established by the Operations Section Chief and is usually located close to the incident to facilitate a timely response, but far enough away to be out of the impact area. The incident may dictate the need for more than one staging area.  The staging area may be co-located with other ICS facilities if necessary. [4]
