Spinal Trauma
Blunt trauma to the spinal column can cause immediate fractures and indirect trauma to the spinal cord. Basic anatomy describes the narrow margin for error within the body of the spinal column which holds the spinal cord. Patients should be examined head-to-toe for any neurologic complaints and cervical spine immobilization should be considered. [23, 24]
