ECG Findings
  • Many patients with PE will have EKG abnormalities, and many do not
  • Its diagnostic usefulness is questionable, as it is not very sensitive
  • Findings include:
    • Non-specific ST abnormalities
    • Sinus tachycardia
    • Right heart strain
    • Peak P wave in lead II
    • Atrial fibrillation
    • Right bundle branch block [18]
  • The "S1, Q3, T3" pattern is considered suggestive of a PE (12-15%) [18]
