By the end of this lecture, the participant should be able to:

- Identify and anticipate patients who are difficult to ventilate and intubate.
- Demonstrate knowledge of how best to correct airway problems before they are encountered.
- Describe the advantages and limitations, as well as indications for use, of alternate airway devices.
- List and explain the anatomy and common emergency surgical airway techniques and devices.
- Describe airway confirmation devices
