- Prepare the necessary equipment
- Ensure patient meets criteria for intervention
- Identify proper landmark
- Prepare the site
- Perform puncture of cricothyroid membrane with the needle at a 90-degree angle
- Aspirate to ensure placement
- Angle the needle cephalic 45-degrees and advance catheter off of needle
- Attach oxygenating device
