- Tuberculosis vaccine is a suspension of an attenuated strain (bacillus Calmette-Gu"rin) of Mycobacterium Tuberculosis.
- It is a bovine type, which is inoculated into the skin for tuberculosis prophylaxis.
- Not recommended in immunization programs or TB control programs in the U.S.
- BCG vaccine is at times considered for infants and children who are continually exposed to untreated or ineffectively treated patients.[11]
