Diabetic Coma vs. the Insulin Shock
A diabetic coma usually does not happen overnight and frequently happens to patients who are unaware that they have diabetes. What happens is that the body cells do not get enough nourishment. A diabetic coma occurs when there is too much sugar in the blood stream and too little insulin to neutralize it.
Signs and symptoms include drowsiness, confusion, deep and fast breathing, thirst, dehydration, fever, a change in the level of consciousness and a peculiar sweet or fruity-smelling breath. [4] | | | | | | | | |
