Endocrine Diabetic Emergencies

Patient Refusal
If the patient is on long acting insulin, an oral agent, has a fever, has signs of a possible MI (atypical symptoms, dyspnea, shortness of breath, etc.) had he/she had a recent acute illness, physician medical control is required. Also, if the patient is unable to identify or document the reason for the diabetic emergency, a medical control physician must be contacted. [29]
