Less Lethal Weapon Injuries

Assessment

Patients who exhibit signs and symptoms of intoxication, head trauma, hypoglycemia, hypoxia, temperature extremes, suspected overdose, psychosis or other major thought disorder, or are thought to be an immediate threat to themselves or others (i.e. suicidal or homicidal) are considered to be incapable of refusing medical treatment and transportation. A valid “Section 12” order that states “restrain patient” also overrides patient refusal of transport.
