Blood Flow Through the Heart
  • Unoxygenated blood flows from the inferior and superior vena cava into the right atrium.  It moves through the tricuspid valve, into the right ventricle and continues through the pulmonic valve into the pulmonary arteries and then to the lungs.
  • Blood travels via the pulmonary veins into the left atrium.  It moves through the mitral valve, into the left ventricle, through the aortic valve and through the aorta, to the body. [25, 27]
