Be familiar with your local protocol. For example, in Massachusetts the EMT may place the electrodes to obtain a 12-Lead ECG but cannot interpret the EKG. The monitor's internal computer displays an interpretation of the 12-Lead but should be used as a guide and not the actual interpretation.
