The idea of a BLS 12-Lead has been trying to grab a foothold in the prehospital setting. The ReadyLink System has been discontinued due to a lack of volume. The idea behind the ReadyLink 12-Lead ECG by Physio-Control, Inc. was to provide a handheld, portable and easy to use 12-Lead ECG machine for operation by BLS or ALS providers in the out-of-hospital setting. The ReadyLink 12-Lead ECG gave physicians advanced notification of potential STEMI patients. With this knowledge physicians could direct EMS providers to the right facility and prepare hospital staff for the necessary care to help decrease the door-to-treatment time for STEMI.
