Parietal pericardium
- Tough outermost layer
- Non-elastic, fibrous connective tissue
- Attaches to the diaphragm and sternum
Epicardium or Visceral pericardium
- Thin, serous inner layer of pericardium
- Attached to the heart and allows it to slide freely
