Symptoms for infants and young children may include: (children younger then 12-years-old)
- Fever > 100.4° F (> 38°) oral, tympanic, or rectal equivalent (close to 100%)
- Cough, respiratory distress, tachypnea
- Lethargy, irritability, loss of appetite.
- Coryza more common in this age group
Symptoms for older children may include: (children older then 12-years-old)
- Fever > 100.4° F (> 38°) oral, tympanic, or rectal equivalent (close to 100%)
- Cough, respiratory distress, tachypnea, dyspnea, difficulty breathing
- Loss of appetite, diarrhea, confusion
- Symptoms are similar to an adult patient
- Myalgia and headache more common in this age group [3][4]
