Most people within the United States rely on a stable upbringing, education and a little common sense when it comes to making a home safe for a child. However, incidents happen regardless of how prepared one can be. We say that accidents are preventable with solid preparation. In 2008 the economic cost for environmental exposure protection for children was estimated $76.6 billion dollars. As a result of the age-appropriate behaviors (crawling, jumping, “exploring”), smaller size and anatomic differences, children are easily put at risk for a toxicological emergency. [4]
