Cannabinoid Hyperemesis Syndrome (CHS) I
In chronic cannabis users, marijuana can actually cause intractable nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain.  CHS can be broken down into three phases:
  • Pre-emetic
  • Hyperemetic
  • Recovery Phase
EMS providers are more likely to encounter patients within the hyperemetic phase where the patient is experiencing frequent episodes of cyclical vomiting. [11]
