| GHB comes as a tan or white powder, that is mixed in liquid to be taken as a drink. The effect caused by GHB is usually one of sedation and release of inhibitions. The release of inhibition, however, can cause a paradoxical agitation. It is rapidly absorbed, and metabolizes quickly as well. The clinical hallmark in acute overdose is a patient with coma who quickly becomes combative, especially during painful stimulation.
