Toxicological Emergencies

Agitation
The provider also needs to be wary of the agitated patient and potential for violence.  Never put yourself in a vulnerable position.  If you need backup, wait for it.  You may be confronted with a patient who is unwilling to cooperate, but unable to refuse treatment due to mental status.  This patient may need restraint.  Make sure you are able to safely control the patient and the environment before you start the restraining process.
