In 2017, fifty-five of the poison control centers within the United States provided over-the-phone guidance and direction to over 2.12 million human poison exposures. This resource was also used a total of 96,221 times to identify a drug or medication. There was a total of 640 poison exposures reported per 100,000 population with the highest incidence occurring among one and two year old children. [2]
