Initial Treatment Priorities
  • Ensure scene safety and don appropriate body substance isolation
  • Maintain open airway and assist ventilations as needed
  • Administer oxygen as clinically indicated
  • Obtain vital signs and assess hemodynamic status
  • Obtain SAMPLE history
    • Signs/Symptoms, Allergies, Medications, Past Medical History, Last oral intake, Events leading up
  • Determine the patient's level of distress
  • Mild vs. Severe Distress
  • Contact ALS-Paramedics if applicable [13]
