ALS Treatments
  • EMT-Intermediates or Paramedics may provide advanced airway management as indicated and may utilize Emergent Airway protocols if in place
  • Intermediates/Paramedics will initiate an IV of normal saline and monitor the patient's hemodynamic status
    • Administer fluid bolus to maintain a systolic blood pressure of 100mmHg
  • Paramedics will apply the cardiac monitor and manage dysrhythmias per protocol
  • Mild Distress
    • Monitor closely for symptoms of severe distress to develop
    • Administer Diphenhydramine (Benadryl)
    • Administer Albuterol as needed
  • For patients with a known adrenal insufficiency Medical Control may order the administration of Hydrocortisone or Methylprednisolone.
