There are only a few modifications that should occur with the treatment of a pregnant female suffering from anaphylaxis.
- IM Epinephrine (via Auto-injector) is still the preferred initial treatment and route of administration.
- However, pregnant patients who have just received Epinephrine should not suddenly sit or stand as this can lead to cardiac arrest as a result of the "empty inferior vena cava/empty ventricle syndrome." [22]
