Case Study Conclusion
  • Thankfully, Christopher improves significantly in the next five minutes. The Paramedic ambulance you called has arrived and they transport Christopher to the hospital. His hives are gone, he is breathing at 20 breaths per minute and his blood pressure is now 100/64 mmHg. He gets some more IV fluids en route. When he arrives at the ER, the team quickly informs the doctors and nurses that Christopher anaphylaxed to latex and to please use non-latex gloves and put Christopher in latex free room in the ER or this will happen all over again.
  • Those instructions are followed. Christopher is given IV corticosteroids and some additional IV fluids and does fine. He recovers completely.
