2. Slow the bleeding by letting the baby breastfeed if the cord is not stretched too tightly. 
3. Stimulating the nipples may help stop vaginal bleeding. 
4. DO NOT PULL THE UMBILICAL CORD. Allow it to deliver spontaneously as the mother pushes. 
5. Place the placenta in a trash bag or waterproof container for the physician to exam for abnormalities.
